LSD Addiction Centers

LSD addiction centersLSD was a popular drug in the 1970s, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still used today. The reality is that each year there are more than 200,000 Americans who use LSD for the first time. The median age for LSD use is 18 to 25, and unfortunately, the greatest health and developmental risks are posed to those under the age of 18.

Individuals who suspect LSD use in their teens or other loved ones must be aware of the signs of use and abuse to offer their help.

Warning Signs of LSD Abuse

LSD abuse is harder to detect at times, because unlike other drugs, most of the symptoms only appear when an individual is experiencing a drug trip. When the effects of the drug have worn off, there are fewer signs to detect. However, these are some of the signs that can be experienced during a trip or closely following one:

  • Dilated pupils
  • Disorientation even in familiar locations
  • Rambling speech and an inability to focus
  • Mood swings and erratic behavior
  • Sweating
  • Increased anxiety

Many drug addicts begin failing in school or neglecting their responsibilities at work; with LSD, these social signs are not as common. Abuse can be only a single use and this is typically not a drug used each and every day by an addict.

Since physical signs can be hard to detect and social issues may not surface with LSD use, individuals can be on the lookout for paraphernalia required for use of LSD as this can indicate abuse.

Watching for LSD Paraphernalia

The items below can indicate LSD abuse:

  • Blotter paper. These are small pieces of paper, often shaped as squares or circles that contain drops of LSD. The drug is consumed in this format by putting it on the tongue or even on the eye.
  • Gelatin. Colored gelatin may indicate LSD use, particularly if there are small-sized packages present.
  • Sugar. Sugar may not be a suspicious thing to have in a household, but those abusing LSD will often have it in strange places as they store the drug in sugar cubes.
